The Beats of My Heart - Chapter Three
We didn't even bother going back to shopping. Instead, we immediately went back to the dance studio.
"Oh my-"
Payal couldn't even finish her sentence. She kept walking back and forth. She couldn't properly register what had happened, through her head.
"Oh my gosh! Like- I mean- ugh!!! Did you see what happened? Oh my gosh! You- He- OH MY GOSH I CAN'T EVEN TALK! Khushi-"
She turned to look at me and saw that I was staring out the window. The view out the window was spectacular! You could see a lot of the city. The moment we came in, I had put my stuff down and just stared out the window. Every time I blinked, I kept seeing what had just occurred: how we bumped into each other, how we held each other, how we stared into each other's eyes. It was at that moment when my heart raced up. I clutched myself and closed my eyes, trying to calm it down.
What's going on?
Payal came over to me and looked at me for a few seconds. Then she cracked a smirk and she playfully slapped my back, causing me to flinch.
"Ow! Hey-"
"What are you thinking about?"
I looked at her trying to think of an excuse, but I blushed instead and looked back out to the city.
"Is that- are you blushing?"
I looked away.
Payal ran around to see my face. "Oh my gosh! Khushi, do you think that he could be the man of your dreams?"
I looked at her and thought to myself – I know that she's teasing me, but on a real note, I hadn't even thought of that at all! After all, how could I?
Payal simply looked at me as I thought. Then she snapped in my face and I came back to reality.
"What are you thinking of?"
I turned away and walked towards the mirrors, touching them. "Payal, I don't know why, but for some reason, everything looks so much better than before." I look around the room. "And everything looks so brand new." I look out the window. "And everything seems so pleasant. And..."
"And what?"
I walked towards her and looked out the window. "Well... I feel happy." I looked back at her.
"While you were thinking, every time I blinked, all I kept seeing was those brief moments. It just kept replaying over and over again. And then-"
I stopped. I looked down and I clutched my heart. It was going crazy again.
"Payal, there it goes again!"
"There goes what again?"
I looked back up at her. "My heart. It's beating with life."
