Warrior - Chapter Thirty Six
With everything packed up and all placed in the car, including the extra gifts given by my in-laws, Arnav and I headed out in the shiny, jet black Lamborghini Urus. We make a stop, however, picking up sweets to take to my family and holy fuck it's a lot!
"Are you trying to give them diabetes," I frowned.
"No," Arnav frowned back as he got back into the car. "Is it really that much?"
I looked over all of the boxes of sweets once more, sitting nicely in the back seats. "I don't know, I've never bought sweets to take to anyone before. Of course, when it comes to my parents, I highly doubt Babuji will complain. Heck, he'll make every day his cheat day until they're all done."
Arnav only chuckled besides me and pulled off into traffic once more. "Excited?"
There's that question again. Though I didn't answer last time due to NK's cockiness, this time....
Am I even excited though?
We come to a red light and Arnav looks over at me. "Khushi?"
I don't bother looking at him.
"You okay," he asked softly.
"I don't know," I heard myself saying.
Why the fuck did I say that?
Arnav held out his hand to me and I looked at it. Tentatively, I placed my left hand in his right, and he gave it a light squeeze, which oddly enough spreads some comfort through me. The light changes and Arnav drives again, but he doesn't let go of my hand.
Yet oddly enough, I don't want him to. It's oddly the only thing that's comforting me while my mind and feelings are in a jumble.
Have I mentioned it's all odd?
It isn't long before we arrive to my parents' house - funny how quickly it's changed from my house to my parents' house. We've only just pulled up to the place when the door opens, revealing Payal, Babuji, and a shocked Amma.
Shalini Singh Raizada definitely hit the nail on the head.
"What-? You both are so early," Amma exclaimed, looking shocked. "I haven't even finished cooking yet!"
Ah! She's cooking today, huh?
The grub is gonna be real good today!
Arnav and I got out of the car and joined the others, and we're immediately pulled into an embrace by my family. Payal pretty much tackled me with her hug and I can tell squirt is trying to hold back her tears by the slight shake I feel from her, but she still smiles through it.
Aww, baby sis....
I spot Gomez standing behind them all, and I reach over and hug him as well, which he returns. Arnav must've noticed because he comes to my side and shakes hands with the old man.
"But wait, why are you two so early," Amma asked.
"Clearly to surprise us," Payal frowned.
"Exactly," Arnav smiled. "But if it's a problem, we could-"
"Absolutely not," Amma exclaimed, darting to her new son in-law's side.
I swear, she moved so quickly like a cartoon character, you barely even saw her move! It was like she poofed into thin air!
Amma led Arnav inside and Babuji followed after them, while Payal comes to my side and Gomez goes to the car to get things with the other workers he's called over.
Payal nudged me slightly. "You should've seen the way she jumped when Gomez saw you guys pull up on the cameras."
Ah! That explains how they knew.
"I'm sure there's going to be more than jumping this whole week," I shrugged.
"No kidding," she grinned, and we both headed inside.
Even though I've only spent two nights away from the place, the house felt slightly - once again what seems to be the word of the day - odd to me. It wasn't odd in a bad way, but still, it felt strange.
It makes me feel weird to realize this. The very house that I didn't want to leave is now turning into a strange place.
"Looks like Amma has begun," Payal said.
I snapped out of my thoughts and see Payal looking into the living room. Looking in, I see my new husband is seated on the sofa, maids coming in and placing a shit ton of food before him due to my ridiculous mother. She's trying to get him into eating everything, and Arnav Singh Raizada is trying hard not to.
It's actually very entertaining to watch, especially when Arnav looks over at me for help.
Poor guy!
The memory of when I gave him the cupcakes come to mind, and I remember the gym comment. And seeing the way my mom has got him, he's probably going to have to spend the rest of the month in the gym to keep himself in shape.
"Well, looks like mom's going to be crazy," I shrugged. "I'm heading on up to my room."
I make my way to the stairs when Amma calls out after me, actually leaving Arnav's side.
"You can't just go upstairs yet," Amma frowned.
"Why not? I'm tired."
"Oh? Why's that," Payal smirked.
I glare her down but baby sis only laughs.
Idiot! Do I look like a person to you that would just have sex with her new husband from an arranged marriage on her first night?
What an absolute idiot.
"You can't just go up alone," Amma said, ignoring Payal. "Take Arnav with you."
"Why?"
"Because you should."
That doesn't make any sense! She could've just said because because, it's the same thing!
Babuji joined us, bringing along Arnav. "Maybe it's a good idea," Babuji chuckled. "It'll spare Arnav's stomach for a moment."
"Oh stop it you," Amma waved.
"Why don't you both head upstairs and get some rest," Babuji smiled. "The staff will bring your stuff up shortly."
I only shrugged in return, and Arnav and I headed on upstairs. My brain quickly realizes that although Arnav had been in this house only once before, this was actually the first time he was going past the first floor. He followed behind me to my old room, and like he had opened the door and his mother had presented his room to me back during our engagement, I did the same. Arnav smiled at me before stepping inside. I turned the lights on, illuminating the room, and everything is still the same. The room is nice and clean, but other than that, it remains untouched.
Arnav walked around, looking at things, and like always, I shut the door and lock it behind me. When I turned back around, I see that Arnav has noticed it, and he pinches his lips together.
"Force of habit," I simply said.
"I understand," and Arnav gives a small smile before turning back to the room. "I like your room."
"Really?"
My room was nowhere near as big as Arnav's, but still, it was my room. I may not have a posh seating area like his, but then again, I usually spent my time chilling out in my closet. It had all my stuff, the perfect lighting, quiet space where no one could hear anything, and it was the place I felt most secure. Unless I wanted to watch TV, I used to spend most of my time in there, chilling at my vanity.
Besides, it's not like I wanted people in here, fuck a seating area.
"Yes, I think it's nice," Arnav said, snapping me from my thoughts.
There's a knock at the door and I open it, revealing the workers. They came in with our luggage and set it aside, then left us two alone.
It once again clicks in my mind that Arnav will be here, living and sleeping in my room with me for a week.
Let's see how things go.
Let's see if this marriage needs to get annulled for being so short.
Nice Update. I like the way Arnav gives Slient support th Khushi also how relaxed she gets with his gestures An really liking this story. Thanks for this lovely Update
