Warrior - Chapter Forty Seven
Whoosh!
The tiny golf ball went flying through the air, then landed, rolling on and on. My meeting had already been concluded so I was just spending my time enjoying the course for a bit.
Sigh... this feels good.
Honestly, this whole week has been feeling really good. Something about getting back into the grove of things at the office has really relaxed me. Sure, I did have a few meetings and phone calls that irked the shit out of me, but it merely scratched the surface of my happiness, nothing more.
Think of it as a mosquito trying to bite you and you slapped that shit dead - like that!
Reaching where the golf ball was lying, I hit the ball gently, given that the hole was only a few feet away, and the ball went rolling right in.
Hmm, another game well played... maybe I'll get lunch now.
Placing my clubs onto my golf cart, I made my way to the main hall. The golf course has its own restaurant, which is by the main hall.
As I drove along, just like last time, I spotted many people playing here and there. Seeing them, I can't help but to think of the events that happened the last time I was here. It was just like this now - me casually driving along to get back to the main center, when I had randomly spotted-
"What- Arnav?"
Off in the distance, on the field, I spotted none other than Arnav Singh Raizada, wearing a long sleeve white tee with a navy blue zip vest, as well as black track pants.
I gotta admit, from this distance, the man not only looked good, but stern.
Very stern.
Along with him were two other men and two members of security standing a distance away.
But wait a minute, what is he doing here? He was all dressed up for the office this morning, so what-? Well, he can always change clothes, I mean if the man has ties lying around at his office, surely having a whole wardrobe is no big deal for him. So then why...? Well, then again, it's not like I made any mention of my trip here today, he only found out this morning.
Hmm....
Slowly inching forward along, I realized that that one of the men with Arnav was none other my father in-law, Aryan Singh Raizada.
Okay, him being here makes sense given that I saw his outfit this morning; his polo and trousers are perfect for golf-wear. But still, why is Arnav here? Shalini Singh Raizada made mention of Aryan having work this morning so surely.... Maybe the third guy is the guy he was meeting here and he was being a dick? So Arnav had to come?
Hundred bucks says I'm right.
Determined to find out, I put my foot down on the accelerator and headed towards them. As they become much clearer, Arnav's sternness becomes even more obvious, and it's all being directed to the other guy. Papa in-law makes a swing at his ball, then turns back and looks at the two, leaning on his club. I can't see his face due to him having his back towards me, but based on his body language, I can tell he's over it.
Who the fuck is this guy?
When I got closer to them, security approached me, and once they realized who I was, they nodded their heads at me as a curt greeting. I nodded back, then headed towards the man who is my current husband.
"...take my deal Rajeev; you don't have any other choice," I heard Arnav say as I got closer to him.
Oh?
Papa in-law placed another golf ball down on the ground. "I told you Mr. Jhaveri, my son is not one to negotiate," and he struck the ball.
The other man, who's slightly graying at the sides of his head, looks frustrated and panicky, though he's trying to hide it - hide it miserably that is. He's simply leaning on his golf club, shaking his foot incessantly, further proving his panic.
I wonder what the issue is.
This Rajeev Jhaveri goes to open his mouth, when he spots me. "Oh? Well hello there."
Both Raizada men looked up to see me, and while papa in-law's got a big smile on his face, Arnav looks a little stunned, but he flashes that small, polite smile of his.
Well don't be too surprised, it's not like you didn't know I was here. Sure, the golf course is huge, but come on!
"Ah, Khushi," Aryan beamed as he made his way over to me. "Mr. Jhaveri, please allow me to introduce Khushi, my daughter."
"Daughter," Jhaveri frowned.
"Well, she is Arnav's wife, but I consider her to be my daughter," Aryan smiled proudly.
Oh? Well, okay then, if that's the way you want to explain it.
"Well she is very beautiful," Jhaveri smiled.
Oh I already knew that, given the four words you said, as well as from the look in your eyes.
But then again, tell me something I don't know.
Jhaveri stepped towards me, holding out his hand. "A pleasure to meet you."
I placed my hand in his, giving it a firm grip as I shook it. "Nice to meet you as well," and I let go of his hand. "So tell me, what is it that's making you not agree to the deal being offered," I smirked lightly.
The man's face slightly dropped and my smirk stayed in place. It became evident to me as soon as I saw the look on this guy's face that he was hoping to use me to mellow out these Raizada men.
Little did he know that I myself am a firecracker.
I hear papa in-law chuckle beside me. "That's our Khushi. Careful Mr. Jhaveri, she just might make things worse for you."
As Aryan goes back to hit another golf ball, Jhaveri's face drops a little more.
Aww! Is the aging-man scared?
I made my way over to Arnav's side, shooting him a glance. I find him to be looking at me, and just like me, there's a small glint in his eyes.
Oh boy, this is gonna be entertaining!
I turned my attention to Jhaveri. "You haven't answered yet."
Jhaveri looked at me, his eyes slightly wide as he looked a little lost. "Um... uh-"
"Stuttering now, are we," papa in-law lightly chuckled, and he swung at another golf ball, it flying through the air.
I wonder if he's planning on collecting these golf balls?
Turning my attention back to Jhaveri, I find the man slightly scowling at papa in-law, though papa in-law has his back turned to him since he's preparing to hit another golf ball.
"You've wasted my time, enough as it is," Arnav said, bringing my attention to him. "You could've easily worked this out with my father, but no, instead you wanted to speak with me directly."
Oh? So the guy basically dragged you out here, huh? Interesting....
Not to mention I was totally right.
Jhaveri stepped forward. "Mr. Raizada, I can't accept your deal and you know it," the man tried to glare. "Do you have any idea how much of a loss it will be for me?"
"Refuse to take my deal and the loss will be even worse," Arnav said sternly.
Jhaveri's eyes slightly widened. "Is that a threat?"
"Hardly," Arnav said plainly, and he stepped forward, being a matter of inches away from Jhaveri.
Ooh... this just got even more interesting. Not to mention that the man that I usually saw, was definitely not here.
Oh no, this isn't Arnav Singh Raizada, the man that gives small, polite smiles to me. No, no, this was Arnav Singh Raizada - CEO of AR Group of Industries - the tattooed badass.
And it's quite the sight.
Jhaveri opened his mouth to speak, but Arnav cut him off.
"Sell the land to me and you'll at least get something. Refuse to and the land will be stripped away from you by the government, only giving you a tiny fraction of what I've offered, which will barely save you from your debt.
Jhaveri's eyes widened.
"The way I see it, you lose no matter what Rajveer."
Jhaveri clenched his jaw, looking away.
"Take the deal to help yourself and your family. Unless, of course, you'd rather see your family suffer."
The man's head quickly whipped back up. "Is that another threat?"
The corner of Arnav's lips crooked up into a smug smirk, and if I'm not mistaken, this is the first time I'm seeing this look on him.
Well I'll be....
"What threat can I make when you're threatening your loved ones by yourself," Arnav smirked.
Jhaveri clenched his jaw once more and it was obvious he was trying to rid of his nerves when he gulped.
Okay Arnav Singh Raizada, get this guy!
The man looked from Arnav, to Aryan, to me, and back to Arnav, then finally broke down. "Please Mr. Raizada, if you could just raise it a little more-"
"For what," Arnav asked, crossing his arms as he tilted his head. "So that you can be reckless once more? Everyone knows of your bad habits Rajveer, you should be grateful that I'm offering you something to begin with," he sneered slightly. "With the 500k I'm offering, it'll help you to pay off your debt and then some, rather than the government coming in and taking away everything and leaving you with nothing. At least you'll have spare change with what I give and no room to go wasting it off elsewhere."
Ah! So that's this guy's story....
Well, in that case....
Stepping over to Arnav's side, I crossed my arms as well. "Do yourself a favor and take the deal."
Jhaveri's eyes snapped to mine and then his eyes darted to Arnav and back to me. Arnav and I simply looked the man down sternly, making it more than obvious that we weren't going to budge.
Aryan chuckled from behind us. "You'd better listen to them."
"Damn right," I said sternly.
Jhaveri glanced at the both of us again, trying to figure out something to say, when finally, he gave up. His shoulders sagged as he let out a dejected sigh, his head bowing.
"Alright," he sighed, "I'll take the deal."
"Good," Arnav said, his tone still clipped. "I'll see you at my office on Monday."
Jhaveri nodded, and he picked up his golf bag, slumping it over his shoulder. He turned away to leave, when Arnav spoke once more.
"Oh, and one more thing Rajveer."
The aging man paused and looked back at us.
"Don't ever waste my time again..."
While Jhaveri looked at the man who is my husband in fear, I couldn't help but to look at him in amazement.
Arnav Singh Raizada is definitely sounding dangerous with his threat!
"...understood?"
Jhaveri nodded. "Yes, sir," and he turned away and left.
"Glad that's finally done with," I hear papa in-law say from behind me, and he swung another ball into the air.
"Are you planning on getting any of those balls back," I asked, arching my brow.
"Mm, nah," Aryan shrugged. "I'll just buy new ones."
"I don't think mom's going to be happy about," Arnav pointed out.
"I'll work it out."
Arnav rolled his eyes with a smile, making it evident that the Arnav I knew was back.
Interesting... how very interesting, indeed.
Fantastic
